Consulting Services
ONE/Northwest’s consulting to individual environmental organizations break into four service areas:
Powering Voices includes websites, online newsletters
and other solutions to improve organizations’ ability to communicate
with their constituencies and the broader public. In this program area,
we use content management and syndication tools that make it much
easier for environmental groups to publish information on the web and
share information with one another. Our investments here take advantage
of open source tools and new consulting methodologies to routinely
deliver $10-20,000 websites for between $3,000 to $6,000 dollars. We
currently build an average of one new websites every week for environmental
organizations, and this rate continues to increase as we
grow our consulting network. ONE/Northwest is also increasingly
coupling these projects with audience segmentation and strategic
planning to ensure these communication tools are used as effectively as
possible in support of our clients’ environmental missions.
Powering Relationships focuses on databases
to help organizations strengthen their relationships with constituents.
We are investing heavily in this area in 2006 with
the goal of dramatically lowering the cost and raising the
effectiveness of relationship management tools for our environmental
clients. We received a large multi-year grant from the MJ Murdock
Charitable Trust in 2005 to help establish this new program area and
recently hired a very experienced new program manager to run it. A top
priority here is helping groups integrate their databases with websites
as a way of opening a two-way flow of communications with their
constituents.
Powering Action utilizes the
kinds of citizen engagement tools that organizations like MoveOn are
using to power online civic engagement. Our work in this program area
to-date has focused on building partnerships with engagement tool providers to drive down
the cost of online advocacy tools and services that help citizens
more effectively connect with their elected officials and other key decisionmakers. This is ONE/Northwest’s most
exciting area for future growth.
Powering Collaboration expands ONE/Northwest’s earlier work connecting computing infrastructure within organizations to a new focus on connecting communications infrastructure between organizations. This solution area houses cost-saving communication services like our email list service, which serves as a critical communications hub connecting over 160,000 active participants in various aspects of this region’s environmental movement. This solution area also includes many of the exciting collaboration projects mentioned below in our work on networking the movement.
